Competitions

The Humanities Students’ Association run a range of academic competitions throughout the year for all Bond students, in particularly humanities students.

Our aim is to provide students within the faculty with opportunities to succeed in competitions outside of class. Providing students with the experience of representing Bond University in various intervarsity competitions.

While the Competitions Director portfolio is a relatively new position in the HSA, there are already a number of competitions that have been successfully run, including:

- Debating Competition

- Film and Television Competition

- Language Competitions

Debating Competition

The Humanities Students' Association successfully runs its annual Debating Competition. The most recent took place in 101 with 36 competitors and was open to all Bond students. The style of competition involves teams of three in an entertaining knock-out competition, with winners of preliminary debates moving to the semi finals and final, which is held following afternoon tea in the University Club.

Film and Television Competition

Film Gold Coast

The HSA is proud to announce its inaugural Film and Television Scriptwriting Competition, thanks to the support of the Gold Coast City Council's Film Gold Coast and The Postworks.

This competition is open to all Film and Television students, and requires students to submit an original and individual 5 minute script. The theme of "key" must be included somewhere in script to work in conjunction with Tropfest 2011.

Prize: The winner will be given $1000 to assist them in producing a short film out of their winning script, and the HSA will support their entry into next year's Gold Coast Tropfest Short Film competition.

Language Competitions

The Humanities Students' Association will once again hold a language competition open to all language students in Semester 103. Different competitions will be held for French, Chinese, Spanish and Japanese, with beginner and intermediate levels for each. Further details regarding language competitions will be released early next semester.

Thank you to the French Embassy, Latin Society, Masako Gavin and Rose Chi for their sponsorship in the past.
